Week 2

It's been a busy week!

The assignment to discover our project inspirations took some thought, since my project is so broad, but I eventually gravitated to authors, artists, and photographers, investigating their sites and online presence:
Local photographer, Chris Briscoe
I stumbled into then created a google place for Resource Unlimited and am writing content for the Facebook page.
I researched Createspace (Amazon print on demand) and took a (long) Kindle tutorial about uploading digital books.
I looked into Wordpress, Drupal, Wix.com, Iweb and other web building software, templates, add-ins, etc. Then searched add-ins for Frontpage, an old program I've used.

At flickr I signed up, uploaded photos, then checked digital books.
Back to Picassa, I uploaded photos and previewed slideshows, then added one to my blog.

Our team (John, Kyle, and myself) met to support each other's inspirations, and on Thursday evening I went to the J Smilz Show taping. It was good fun, with live music, a fashion show, and of course, J -- interviewing various guests. It was the first time I'd been in that building...and it was hummin'.

I watched several online videos about digital publishing, mazimizing social media impact, launching books and projects, etc. And even though my friends think I'm a digital whiz, it feels like a learning curve I'll never catch up with. Reminded me of a Dylan song: The times they are a-changin'. Bob sang it back in 1964. It is the first part of that sentence that publishers are all singing today: "You better start swimmin' or you'll sink like a stone."

I'm swimmin' as fast as I can!
