oh...and orchids (growing and photographing orchids)

And did I mention water?

I love water! Whether still, falling, breaking...I love water!

Whether powering through it (surfing, swimming, canoeing) or held motionless in its naked embrace, water is a guilty pleasure. Especially skinnydipping.

I'm a foodie too...

Picnics on Italian hillsides or lamb shanks in Auckland, eating and cooking are guilty pleasures...

Guilty Pleasures...

Red wine is poster-child for the health benefits of alcoholic beverages, in part because wine, especially red wine, is loaded with antioxidants. So although I enjoy a good martini (prefer classic, loaded with olives and onions – gotta eat my veggies, tho a pomegranate one works too), wine is my drink of choice…especially a big Shiraz from down under, Tempranillo from Chile, a great French Bordeaux. My present challenge is to find really nice reds for under $10 a bottle.

NEWER!

NEW!

Miles insists we put up our work...even our drafts...scary!

In the depth of winter,
I finally learned
that within me there lay
an invincible summer.

Pablo Neruda, poet laureate of Chile

Oda a la Sandia.
La redonda suprema y celestial sandia
es la fruita del arbol de la sed
es la ballena verde del verano.
                          Pablo Neruda

Ode to the watermelon.
Plump supreme and celestial watermelon,
fruit of the tree of thirst.
green whale of summer.
