OMG...I wrote a really long update on my work the other day then went online today to add something...and it wasn't posted! Where did it go? (in retrospect, I think I 'previewed' it and didn't 'post' it.)
So...I begin again...
I wanted to update on the things I learned this week:
1. My bookmaking software tells me when a photo is too pixilated on a page (nice feature!!)
2. All scanners are not created equal...something I discovered when re-scanning about 30 photos (see #1) at the library. I then uploaded them and began exchanging them for the former versions in the book to find they were AWFUL! (gray, muddy, and just plain ugly compared to the earlier versions -- see photo above). So I re-scanned them again.
3. The best color scanner on campus is the Epsom 500 in the downstairs computer lab (2 there;-)
4. I can get stuck for hours, hunched over my computer, playing with pictures, bookmaking.
5. I can also get stuck (writer's block) on the words...which have been slow coming, though the quotes are all researched and fine.
6. I've downloaded the program 3 times, put it in my applications folder (as instructed), and each time I'm back on the lab machine, it's gone. (another reason to work at home -- it stays put on my machine).
7. Despite major snafus this week (including the disappearing blog...grrrr), I'm on schedule per my project timeline (another reason to have one -- hey, something's working ok).
